The Core in Pregnancy: A Yoga and PT Workshop

Keeping your core strong during pregnancy is important- it can help you during pregnancy, assist with labor, and guide you through postpartum recovery. This workshop will consist of a yoga practice created by prenatal yoga instructor Jennifer McCracken that explores how to safely use the core in pregnancy and variation of poses to prevent issues after birth.
Afterwards, Dr. Victoria Clement of Restore the Floor Pelvic Therapy will address- what is the core and why we need in labor. She will discuss how to prevent diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and core weakness, how to use the core during labor/what to do if you have a C-section, and if you have diastasis recti how to improve the abdominal wall.
This workshop is offered both in-studio or via livestream, so you can join from anywhere.

About your presenters:

Jenn McCracken

Jenn fell in love with her prenatal yoga classes in 2016 and felt called to become certified to teach prenatal yoga. She is passionate about helping pregnant people find their mind-body connection prior to childbirth through breath work, strengthening, and stretching. Jennifer believes in the importance of a postpartum community once a child enters the world and became certified as a postpartum doula to empower families. She teaches prenatal and postpartum yoga weekly, tying in mindful movement and creating a community of support for all.

Dr. Victoria Clement

Victoria developed an affinity for the pregnant and postpartum populations and helping these individuals navigate their physical, mental, and emotional changes through this incredible time of growing and nurturing another human being. Unfortunately, moms have a lot of societal pressure and responsibility and do not have time and energy to take care their physical health and wellness. So, she decided to leave her corporate job and create a hybrid clinic/ mobile practice to bridge the gap of lacking obstetrics physical therapy care and to advocate for the normalization of pelvic health education in her community. In addition, she completed doula training to better understand what happens in the delivery room.
