Yoga Dance Meditation

Yoga Dance Meditation is a unique practice designed to take you through discomfort and into your own freedom of expression (and joy!) in your first artistic tool, your body!

“If you set people in motion, they heal themselves”- Gabrille Roth

How often do we become paralyzed by the analytical mind and the stories it creates? The rigidity in our minds often translates to our bodies, holding us back from creativity and freedom.  Starting with the familiar, we’ll begin on our mats, with a grounded yet flowing practice in which we begin exploring free form motions. We’ll graduate into a freeform dance meditation, then take it back down to the mats for more yoga movement synthesis, ending in meditation.

This Yoga Dance Meditation practice is inspired by the work of Shiva Rea, creator of Prana Flow Vinyasa, Gabrielle Roth, creator of 5 Rhythms, a dance meditation practice, and Candace’s own explorations of dance and movement, which began when she was three years old.

About Candace Stevens:

Candace (she/her) has been teaching yoga since 2010 and draws from numerous lineages; from dynamic, creative, free-flowing sequencing from Shiva Rea, to mindful, grounded, trauma-sensitive practices from Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Candace employs an eclectic approach with the intention of best meeting the needs of the class in any given moment. Her teaching is strongly influenced by her work as a mental health therapist, and she sees the practice of yoga as a way to deepen mental and emotional connection and healing.  She is a Senior Member of Yoga Home’s Teaching Team, named Best Yoga Studio in Conshohocken and part of their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.
