Summer Radiance Yoga Retreat

As we welcome the summer season, we invite you to connect to this phase of the sun’s cycle with balance. During this turning of the wheel of the year, Mother Nature’s abundance of energy, light, and warmth, calls us outward, but often at the expense of our sense of grounding and need for rest.  Come explore Summer Radiance with the Yoga Retreat.

This retreat offers both the yin and the yang: the roots to the tree, the conservation and expansion of life force. Within a circle of community, we’ll remember the old ways, cultivate self-expression and open up to our own creativity and wisdom. As we are held by the earth and recall our place in the larger web, we will ground with yin, explore freedom in flowing movement/yoga, and join together around the fire as our ancestors did to release, call in, sing, dance, remember, and awaken to our beauty and brilliance.

Join Candace Stevens and Meghan Dwyer for yoga, meditation, ceremony, journaling, nature walks, and more to Shakti-fy the start to your summer!

The weekend will include:

  • Daily yoga and meditation sessions
  • Nature walks on the beautiful grounds of the Himalayan Institute
  • Ayurvedic, nourishing meals
  • Bonfire ceremony (weather permitting)
  • Free time for journaling, hiking, rest or whatever you need
  • Option to join additional yoga practices with Himalayan Institute faculty and visit the Sri Vidya Shrine
  • Optional Spa Treatments at PureRejuv Wellness Center and Chocolate/Coffee Tour at MOKA

No yoga experience is needed; only a willingness to show up. Brand new beginners will find plenty of direction on all aspects of our practice and more experienced yogis will discover deeper nuances of their practice.

About your facilitators:

Candace Stevens (she/her) has been teaching yoga since 2010 and draws from numerous lineages; from dynamic, creative, free-flowing sequencing from Shiva Rea, to mindful, grounded, trauma-sensitive practices from Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Candace employs an eclectic approach with the intention of best meeting the needs of the class in any given moment. Her teaching is strongly influenced by her work as a mental health therapist, and she sees the practice of yoga as a way to deepen mental and emotional connection and healing.Candace has been a Senior Member of Yoga Home’s Teaching Team for many years and contributes to their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. Candace has been bringing her passion for and gift of creating ritual and ceremony to her teaching in seasonal offerings at Yoga Home and recently co-led the Winter Illumination Retreat.

Meghan Dwyer (she/her) is a yoga teacher, shamanic guide, ceremonialist and women’s circle facilitator residing in and raised by the waters and Wissahickon woods of Lenapehoking/Philadelphia. She’s been practicing yoga since 2003 and in 2009 completed her first 200-hour teacher training at Blue Banyan Yoga Studio in Philadelphia. In 2013 she graduated from Kelly Morris’ 300-hour Conquering Lion Yoga Teacher Training in NYC, which combined Jivamukti Yoga with elements of Tibetan Buddhism, South American Shamanism and the Divine Feminine. She is also certified in Yin Yoga, trained by Corina Benner in Levels 1 and 2. Meghan was a Senior Member of Yoga Home’s Teaching Team for many years. She now primarily offers gentle hatha, yin and restorative yoga – she invites students to slow down, feel deeply, and to be gentle and compassionate with themselves. Her gifts include creating space for others to listen to the quiet wisdom embodied in the rhythm of their own hearts and to remember that their true nature is that of Mother Nature. The soul of Meghan’s work ultimately lies in honoring the sanctity of the Earth as Mother as well as following the wisdom of the Moon as Grandmother. She loves creating beauty & sacred space and weaving ritual and ceremony back into the fabric of our communities. Meghan previously owned a yoga retreat business and is excited to start offering retreats again after a six-year hiatus!
