Navigating Hypermobility in Yoga

Have you ever been called "double-jointed"? Navigating hypermobility in yoga will support you in creating a sustainable yoga practice. Ideal for super bendy people!

Have you ever been called “double-jointed”? The ability of a joint to move beyond its normal range of motion is called joint hypermobility. Super bendy people often migrate to the yoga practice at the expense of exploiting their natural flexibility and destabilizing their joints. Join Lori on this 2-hour workshop where we’ll look at ways joint hypermobility shows up in our yoga poses. We’ll discuss and explore various approaches for creating sustainable practices. This is also a great workshop for yoga teachers looking for techniques to keep their students injury free.

Join us November 18th, 2:00-4:00 pm ~ in studio or livestream

About Lori McAlister:

Lori knew she was super bendy from her early years of gymnastics and dance. Transferring her affinity for stretching and movement to yoga made perfect sense. Over the years Lori’s has contorted and exploited her body into attaining extraordinary shapes, relying on her own joint hypermobility. Lori has been researching and learning more about how her body’s natural genetic tissue disposition has its wear and tear setbacks, how joint destablization creates inflammation and pain in her own practice, and how to best prevent it. She is a senior member of Yoga Home’s Teaching Team, named Conshohocken’s Best Yoga Studio, and a member of the 200 hour Yoga Home Teacher Training Team.
