Through your work as a yoga teacher, what impacts would you like to make on the world?
I don’t really see myself as making impact on the world but rather changing the world one person at a time. I aim to give people the tools to really know themselves and connect with their purpose, while maintaining a self care practice along the way. In addition, I want to equip people with the tools to continue connecting with their inner world and emotions in a society that often suggests certain types of feelings shouldn’t be expressed. I feel that the more every individual is able to truly know and accept themselves, the easier it will be to connect with others and foster a sense of compassion and growth. All of this work is intended to help people feel more at home with themselves and in the world

Who inspires you?
Honestly, the people who inspire me most are some of my closest friends. They are people who have struggled, are in the middle of struggling, or maybe in what seems like a never ending cycle of hardship. Yet, they are still here. They welcome their darkness in, take time when they need it, but they keep going. They know life can be just as beautiful as it can be awful.

How would you describe your teaching style?
I focus on adding strength to the yoga practice and promoting a sense of self inquiry in order to foster both inner and outer strength. My most often used phrases in class lately is, what is true for you?

Would you categorize yourself as a thinker, maker, planner, or leader?
I’m definitely a planner and a thinker. In fact, being a thinker is one of the reasons I practice yoga. Without my practice I’d drive myself completely nuts by analyzing every situation to death.

Of all Yoga Home’s core values {Connection, Acceptance, Love, Community, Growth} which do you connect with most?
This is a hard choice! I’d say connection and acceptance are the values I connect with most. As I mentioned before, I think it’s important to foster a compassionate connection with yourself in order to do the same with others. Acceptance offers the essential element of compassion by acknowledging and celebrating our unique differences on the path home to ourselves.
