Chair Yoga and Wellness Workshop

Join us for a Chair Yoga and Wellness Workshop where we focus on building community, breath awareness, exploring Chair Yoga, and self-reflection. This introspective workshop will be framed from a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lens in support of our own journey.
This workshop is for anyone who is looking to engage in self-reflection and chair yoga; friends who are new to practicing yoga and already practicing are welcome. It is also ideal for those seeking the physical and mental benefits of yoga, who have limited mobility or balance as a result of the aging process, injury or other medical issues. We’ll explore yoga postures seated in chairs and standing using the chair for support, and how using yoga blocks and blankets can give us greater comfort and access to the practice. Sharon is skilled at giving options based on specific needs.
Class size is limited to allow for more personalized attention.  Please bring a journal or notebook and pen, water bottle and come wearing comfortable or athletic clothes.

Join us Saturday, March 9th, 1:00 – 3:00pm

About your presenter:

Sharon Marino

Sharon is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and Social Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL) with Yoga Alliance. She has been an athlete her entire life and started practicing yoga in 2010 when, due to injuries, she realized she needed to be kinder to her physical body. Sharon quickly learned that yoga is much more than the physical “asana” practice and the benefits to the mind, heart, and spirit in many ways outweighed the physical practice. In 2022, Sharon completed her 200-hour YTT with Breathe for Change, whose mission is to support and train educators in wellness, social emotional learning, and yoga to drive social change and healing.

As a former principal and educator in Philadelphia for over 20 years, Sharon believes in empowering teachers, staff, families, and students as leaders, partnering with communities to create change, and that it is our collective responsibility “to advocate for opportunity and access for all.” Yoga Home’’s mission “to educate and empower individuals through the art and science of yoga, engage in sustainable community outreach and support the spiritual growth and evolution of all our members” is what drew Sharon to want to be a part of the team. She has been practicing with Yoga Home since its inception and has served as a member of our Work Exchange Team. Sharon serves as an educational coach and consultant through her LLC, Marigold, is a member of her local school board and other organizations committed to ensuring equitable opportunities, and recently completed her 300-hour YTT, with a strong emphasis on Chair Yoga.
