yoga + community + food

This past Friday, at our 2nd Birthday Bash & Super Class (click here for pictures!), we talked about the interconnection and interdependence of all things. At Yoga Home, we are committed to extending our practice beyond the studio doors. For us, this includes making sustainable and responsible choices for our bodies and the environment.

We are thrilled to announce a few community partnerships that get you outside, support local farms and promote healthy eating!  Next week, we’ll also reveal our summer lineup of outdoor community $5 classes — all at locations that will inspire you to eat and live well (and yes, we have NEW LOCATIONS this year!)

Taproot Farms

unnamed

Taproot Farm offers 23 weeks of super fresh (June – November), completely local and 100% organically grown produce — now delivered right to Yoga Home.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a fast growing movement, connecting people to the farms that grow, raise & nurture their food. Rebuilding the link between farm and food allows us to eat the freshest food from a source we can know and trust. CSA allows us to feed our families the most nourishing foods possible, while directly supporting the sustainable farms that protect our environment and nourish the land.

Spring Mill Farmers Market

unnamed (2)

We are thrilled to be an official partner of the Spring Mill Farmers Market, hosted Sundays 9am-1pm from May 8 through October at the corner of Hector & Lee Streets (across from the Courts at Spring Mill). The market features a variety of vendors offering locally grown fruit and vegetables, pastured meats, baked goods (including gluten free items), local wine, cheese, coffee and more.

Currently, the SMFM is hosting a Kickstarter Campaign to support their efforts in being able to provide fresh vegetables to the local community pantry, the Colonial Neighborhood Council,  and the Meals on Wheels program. Donate Now!

And yes, you can expect that we will be offering yoga – but more on that next week!

The Rachel Way

May is Celiac Awareness Month and we’ve chosen to support the local non-profit, The Rachel Way, one of only two specialty food pantries in the country that specifically stock gluten-free and dairy-free items for families in need.

Donations will collected April 19 – May 7.  For a list of approved foods, click here.
