Yoga for 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR)

Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) follows the framework developed by Nikki Myers integrating the wisdom of yoga and the practical tools of 12-step programs. Using the cognitive tools of the 12-steps and the somatic experience of yoga, Y12SR assists people in developing body awareness, learning to feel what’s going in their bodies and how to self-regulate The time is divided between a 12-step like sharing circle and a yoga session where we “take it to the mats.” Y12SR is open to beginners.

Simple yoga postures and breathing exercises will be practiced each meeting. Guided by its theme “The Issues Live In the Tissues,” Y12SR meetings are now available all over the country and the curriculum is quickly becoming a feature of addiction recovery treatment centers across the United States.

Y12SR is a meeting and a yoga practice, using the mind/body approach for relapse prevention. Y12SR is open to anyone and everyone dealing with addiction — their own or the addictive behavior of others
Y12SR is an open and inclusive group. All “A’s” are welcome. For more information on Y12SR, visit www.y12sr.org

Lisa DePaul has been working as a therapist in the field of addiction since 2013. Yoga has offered her the balance, foundation and sanctuary for self-care that has helped her move forward professionally, earning her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and, most importantly, the ability to support others through their journey in recovery.

She has studied with Nikki Myers (Yoga and 12 Step Recovery Y12SR), Hala Khouri (Trauma Informed YTT), Dr. Melody Moore (Embody Love Movement) and Transformation Yoga Project. Y12SR meetings are offered to the community by donation.

A portion of proceeds support a non-profit serving the recovery population in our community. Our Y12SR supports Montgomery Country PRO-ACT Offices https://www.councilsepa.org/programs/pro-act/montgomery-county-pro-act/ N

No one will be turned away due to lack of funds; if able, suggested donation is $10-$20.
