words from our community

We feel so full with gratitude and inspiration when we hear stories from our community. #yogahomie, Liz Loney shared her story on Instagram for World Mental Health Day and gave us permission to share her story with all of you. Thank you Liz, we are honored to be part of your journey.

A year ago, there were parts of my life that just weren’t serving me. I refused to acknowledge this because I did not want to feel like or be seen as a failure. Not knowing exactly how to solve things, I would lace up my sneakers and run. I physically ran away from everything until one day, my foot broke. The mind-body connection was stronger than ever and instability had manifested itself.

I took my broken body, heart, and spirit to my yoga studio, saying I would need to cancel my membership when I was presented with options. “Have you tried restorative or yin classes with Meghan Dwyer? They’re all grounded.” — lay on the ground, for an hour? No. Definitely not. But that day, I was given a gift.

I spent my first restorative class silently crying. Every thing I tried to run away from was right in front of me. It’s amazing how loud answers are when you stop to listen.

A year later, on World Mental Health Day, I know more than ever the importance of balance and listening to your body, as it’s often lockstep with your mind. Thank you Yoga Home for teaching me that #YogaIsForEveryBody and helping me heal, physically and mentally. #gratitude #takecareofyourself
