Loving-Kindness Meditation, also known as Metta Meditation, is a traditional Buddhist practice that facilitates healing our disconnected selves, allowing us to come back to the balance and wholeness of our compassionate heart.
Love is an all too often misunderstood word in our Western world. In Buddhist philosophy, love is a profound sense of connection. It is a state of being, and not an emotion. In this sense, love is an ability or capacity. We are born with it, but it is up to us to cultivate it and nurture its growth if we are to experience it in our own lives. Real love is an emergence of intention and practice. It results if we use our attention properly and meditation is the practice of purposeful attention training. Where we place our attention determines how we experience our selves, others, and our life as a whole.
Neuroscience tells us it takes at least 21-days to create a shift in brain or thinking patterns. This program is designed to take advantage of the brain’s innate capacity to shift, grow, and renew. In this series you will learn how to focus your attention in ways that cultivate warmth, kindness, compassion, and love. You will discover that these pure positive qualities have always been here within you. Once you’ve uncovered and nourished them— they will naturally radiate forth to you and everyone in your life. This practice is the gift that keeps on giving!
