New Year’s is a potent time for creating space to reflect on the past and envision the future. For contemplation of what needs to be released and what yearns to be created.
Join Meghan Dwyer, Margaret Kinnevy and a circle of women on New Year’s Eve in a space cultivated with the deepest of devotion to the Feminine to plant the seeds of your dreams for your life AND this world. Come remember that the greatest potential for growth and transformation exists when we are fully rooted in the Earth, our bodies and a circle of women.
During the winter, the Earth’s shakti, is being held safe in the “womb of the Great Mother”. Shakti, which means “power”, the Sanskrit word for the feminine creative energy, is being protected and nurtured underground. In our bodies, which are microcosms of the Earth, it is the pelvis that holds a woman’s shakti. The pelvis is the home of the body, where we return to the ground of our being – to nurture ourselves and to “mother” our dreams and the parts of us that are waiting to be born.
The circle of women is believed to have been the original vessel for the practices of shamanism, not the individual. Shamanism, the oldest spiritual tradition on the planet, is the religion of the Earth, and involves wielding the powers of creation – of life, death and rebirth.
Through the sweet and subtle guidance of Meghan (Yoga Teacher & Shamanic Energy Medicine Practitioner) and Margaret (Acupuncturist & Mayan Abdominal Massage Therapist), and the weaving of their traditions from the South & the East, we’ll dive down into the power of yin – the slow, serpentine energy dwelling in the cave of winter and the womb in the pelvis. We’ll honor this feminine nature through: meditation & movement (yin/restorative yoga and qigong), journeying & journaling, touch & voice (song and spoken word) and a sunset walk to the river for ceremony.
May we enter the darkness of the season to shed our skin, water our dreams, receive nourishment and open to the dawn of a new year. Holding each other’s hearts. Together as sisters. In the name of peace, love and freedom for all beings everywhere.
Please bring a journal, pen and item for the altar.*
*An altar item represents a part of yourself that you would like to honor or symbolizes an energy that you would like to call forth within yourself. It can be any object and you will be collecting it at the end.
