Yoga found Amy in 2008. Although initially resistant to the practice, Amy turned to yoga to guide her through heartbreak in 2012. It was then that she found that the practice offers more than just movement of the body. Through yoga, Amy continues to find her voice, self-compassion, service and community. Amy obtained her yoga teacher certification through the Beyond Asana teacher program in 2015. With her fellow teacher trainers and the organization buildOn, Amy traveled to Haiti in 2016 to begin the construction of a primary school. The resilience and magic of the Haitian people inspired her to find joy in all she does, including teaching. Amy loves to sing loudly and have dance parties and encourages students to express themselves freely in her classes. When she isn’t thinking about, talking about or doing yoga, Amy can be found cooking with her husband, cuddling with her cat and dancing, always dancing.
